• Is
          This Man
          JD Flora?

We don't really know, do we?

All of us, that we read the Logs, do we realize, that we all have a picture of this interesting guy in our mind, but that we really don't know how he looks? Is he a mid-fourty, too fat from spending too much time at the computer terminal, or is he a well built dude, keeping himself in shape. By his success with women in the Logs (if this is not pure boasting) we have to assume something more to the second possibility.

But it could be yet another possibility, therefore my teaser up there on the page, even if I don't really thing that our JD is only remotely like this guy. I would give more credit to the possibility of him being a very strange guy. And once I was so close!

A friend had told me about some kind of conference or speach or something like that where a rather interesing guy was supposed to appear talking about the beauty of transitions through the time star or somthing like that.

You could imagine that I felt something like a million volts running down my spine - I would get him now! - No, my friend did not know anything specific ... his name was JP Dora or something to this effect.

This was definitely enough for me. I scraped together my last remaining vacation days and Dollars and was on the plane to Genua, Italy, after some more deep drilling into the memory of my friend and a couple of phone calls.

You probably guessed it ... he eluded me again. But it must be me creating this. I got to the conference a bit late because of some kind of air controller strike somewhere. But only by very little. People were still around, talking to each other with great excitement as if they had really gotten insights into another sphere.

I just grabed some of the brochures, found somebody who had seen JD heading to the harbor, and on my way I was to the harbor. In the movies, if the hero or heroess (me) has to chase somebody they just jump into a cab, there is one driving by without fail, and they never loose their prey. Different in real life, I had to run around first to find a cab, and then the cabby was old and lazy, and did not get into the spirit of chasing. He had quite enough time to get to the harbor. Si, si, senorita, I will hurry up but no ticket want to have, have to feed five bambini e Mama e Papa (at least this was like in the movies).

When I finally came to the harbor I could only see the speed boad disappear that he had rented to still get to the freighter that had left the harbor a bit earlier and on which JD had booked passage to ... Escusi, Senorita, we can not give out this information. What the heck, I'm not a private eye to find out anyway, and I wouldn't have had the money to follow him, just the same.

So I ended up sitting there in the harbor of Genua, Italy, looking over the ocean longingly and contemplating the injustice of the universe. Somehow I have the guts feeling that this must be my own problem. I don't think, that JD even knew, that I was trying to catch up with him, he might not know about me at all, and I guess, if he would have known, he might have actually waited for me. Stupid of me, but somehow I must create the failures of mine. Have to keep working on it.

Untill then we will continue following the adventures of JD Flora through his log. I was so glad when Dr. Steingrubner offered me their administration. Boy, he really could not handle that, he needed somebody like me, And now I'm in the lucky position to get to read them earlier than all of you.

That's enough for now, and .... if you read this and don't know what this hype is all about, you better get the Logs of J.D. Flora ... then you'll know.
